The “Top Five”

Nicholas Evtimov, 6-7 225, PF, 2019, Greensboro Day, Greensboro, NC
He’s scores in the low post with a variety of moves to either shoulder. He’s also an excellent passer.

Joel Pettiford, 6-6 180, F, 2019, SW Guilford HS, High Point, NC
The lefty is one of the most explosive athletes in North Carolina and he utilizes that ability, good strength and hard play to rebound and defend really well. He’s an above the rim finisher.

Joel Pettiford

Shamon Jackson, 6-8 190, PF, 2019, Garner HS, Garner, NC
He scores and rebounds on both ends of the court. He’s virtually unknown, because of playing behind Garner’s 2017-18 squad, which featured 10 seniors.

Christian Wells, 6-6 210, F, Prep, Washington Prep, Greenville, NC
Son of Bonzi is like his father a jack of all trades. He rebounds both ends of the court and he guards either forward position really well, despite being a bit undersized. He uses length and desire to score inside and out. Simply put – he has a knack of scoring and rebounding.

Christian Wells

Jason Thompson, 6-7 190, F, 2019, United Faith, Charlotte, NC
He’s an aggressive combo forward, who runs well and he possesses a solid mid-range shot. He guards either forward position equally well. He needs to get stronger and to work on his dribble-drive maneuver.

Fifteen more Big Forwards – By Height

Alvin Cannady, 6-8 205, BF, 2019, Hopewell HS Huntersville, NC
He’s averaging 12 points and six boards for the year. He is mobile and agile, but he needs to add some bulk to his slim frame.

PJ Fenton, 6-8 185, F, 2019, Green Hope HS, Raleigh, NC
After showing potential for three years, but not being very productive, it seems that the “light” has come on for the agile big forward. He’s averaging close to 18 points per game and around 8.5 rebounds. He still needs to add some muscle to his frame, but he has become a productive player.

Derdan Derdevic, 6-8 210, C, 2019, Freedom Christian, Fayetteville, NC-LM Prospect
He’s a long-armed European, who shoots it well facing from 17 feet. He’s also solid on the boards for Coach Anquel McCollum and he’s working on a post up game.

Brandon Franklin, 6-8 180, F, 2019, Northwood Temple, Fayetteville, NC
Having grown around six inches since reaching high school has made Brandon an interesting prospect. He retains a good perimeter stroke and he’s agile. He has not added the muscle that he needs to better rebound the basketball. That should come with time as he continues to grow into his body.

Blake Wilson, 6-7 190, Forward, Bull City Prep, Durham, NC
He’s a skilled forward, who shoots the ball well from the perimeter and he has good passing skills. He’s at prep school, because he needed strength and to be more aggressive on the boards.

Nalik Vesley-Johnson, 6-7 220, PF, 2019, North Stanley HS, New London, NC
He’s a strong insider, who rebounds well and who scores within 10-12 feet.

He’s a good athlete, who defends and rebounds well. His scoring ability has improved this year, as he’s scoring over 12 points per game. He also gets seven plus rebounds.

Sam Wolfe, 6-8 210, PF, 2019, United Faith, Charlotte, NC

Williams Onyeodi, 6-6 210, F, 2019, Fayetteville Academy, Fayetteville, NC
He’s a very good defender and rebounder, with good strength and athleticism. He’s added a strong dribble-drive game to his game. He needs to shoot the ball with better consistency from the mid-range area.

Jibril McCormick, 6-6 175, F, 2019, Hough HS, Cornelius, NC
He’s a lanky, long and lean slasher, who defends and boards well. He also has a solid mid-range stroke. He would benefit with some added bulk, which should enhance his rebounding ability.

Zack Austin, 6-6 215, PF, 2019, Winston-Salem Prep, Winston-Salem, NC
A very good athlete, Zack has added muscle to his frame, which enables him to play bigger and to rebound the ball better. He’s an aggressive defender. He drives it well from mid-range and he finishes impressively. He needs to shoot the ball with better consistency from the mid-range area.
